What are the types of vibrating screen exciter?

time:Feb 18, 2024 source:ZEXCIT

A vibrating screen exciter is a component of the vibrating screen used to generate the vibrating motion. It is typically a rotating eccentric weight or a set of unbalanced masses, driven by an electric motor or hydraulic drive. The exciter generates the vibratory motion by causing the screen box to vibrate in a circular or linear motion.

The main purpose of the vibrating screen exciter is to provide the necessary vibratory force required to move the screen mesh and the material being processed. This vibration motion helps in the separation of particles based on size, shape, and other properties.

Vibrating screen exciter types

Eccentric Shaft Type: This is one of the most common types of vibrating screen exciters. It consists of a shaft with eccentric weights mounted at specific points along its length. When the shaft rotates, the eccentric weights produce a circular motion, causing the screen box to vibrate in a circular or elliptical path.

Unbalanced Flywheel Type: In this type of exciter, one or more unbalanced flywheels are attached to the shaft. As the flywheels rotate, they create centrifugal forces that cause the screen box to vibrate. Unbalanced flywheel exciters are often used in larger vibrating screens and provide strong, linear vibration.

Electromagnetic Type: Electromagnetic exciters use electromagnets to generate the vibrating motion. These exciters are powered by alternating current, which creates a magnetic field that interacts with the screen box, causing it to vibrate. Electromagnetic exciters offer precise control over the vibration frequency and amplitude and are commonly used in specialized applications where adjustable vibration parameters are required.

Rotary Electric Vibrators: Rotary electric vibrators consist of an electric motor coupled to a rotary eccentric mass. When the motor rotates, the eccentric mass generates centrifugal forces that produce vibration. These exciters are often used in smaller vibrating screens and provide compact, energy-efficient vibration solutions.

Hydraulic Exciters: Hydraulic exciters use hydraulic fluid pressure to generate vibration. They are typically used in heavy-duty vibrating screens where high forces are required for efficient material separation. Hydraulic exciters offer high power density and can generate large-amplitude vibrations, making them suitable for demanding applications.

Pneumatic Vibrators: Pneumatic vibrators use compressed air to generate vibration. They are lightweight and easy to install, making them suitable for portable or temporary vibrating screen applications. Pneumatic exciters are often used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, and chemical processing.

The selection of the vibrating screen exciter depends on factors such as the size and capacity of the vibrating screen, the type of material being processed, and the desired vibratory motion. Proper selection and maintenance of the exciter are essential for ensuring the efficient operation of the vibrating screen.
